Regular City Council Meeting

The governing body of the City of Kirwin met Tuesday, April 3, 2007 for the regular city council meeting.

 

Present: Mayor Robert Hoffman

 

Council members present: Brenda Loyd, Linda Roth, Rhonda Gibson, Todd Lumpkin

 

City employee present: City Clerk Wanda Jameson, City Superintendent Harold Holsman

 

Visitors present: Betty Still, Steve Miller

 

Mayor Hoffman called the meeting to order at 7:37 p.m.

 

Loyd moved, Lumpkin seconded to approve the minutes of the March 6, 2007 regular meeting.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

Lumpkin moved, Loyd seconded to approve the bills for payment.  Motion carried 4-0.

 

Guest Steve Miller addressed council about the Discover Phillips County’s County Wide Cleanup.

 

Directive was given to clerk to mail a publication about the county and city wide cleanup.

 

Ordinance No. 228; An Ordinance revising and regulating the charges for sewer rates and solid waste removal inside the city limits of Kirwin, Kansas.

Ordinance passed 3 yeas – 1 nay

 

Kirwin Fireman’s relief discussed. No action taken.

 

Loyd moved, Lumpkin seconded to proceed with clearing of property at City of Kirwin D9 lots 11-12. Motion carried 4-0.

 

Junk vehicle on Hoffman’s property discussed, April 4th date given for removal.

No action taken by council.  

 

Old siren discussed. No action taken.

 

Purchase of stoves for Quonset discussed. No action taken.

 

Unsafe driving practices of ATV’s in city limits discussed.

Directive given to City Clerk to include ATV guidelines with publication to be sent out.

 

Lumpkin moved, Loyd seconded to order 5 loads of rock or shale. Motion carried 4-0

 

Loyd moved, Lumpkin seconded to waive the fee for the Elementary School Math Bucks program on April 17-18. Motion carried 4-0.

 

City bookkeeping procedures discussed. No action taken.

 

Loyd moved, Lumpkin seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 4-0.
