The Kirwin Lions sponsor the annual Old Settler's Day festival, public swimming at the Dane G. Hansen Scout Camp during the summer hours, collection of used eyeglasses, and provide assistance to the leader dog program. We benevolently support the activities of the community and encourage those in need of assistance to contact us. We also provide assistance to youth who endeavor to participate in educational and mission travels. High school aged youth who particularly enjoy band are encouraged to contact the Lions Club to participate in the annual Lions Band. We are proud to be one of the first Lions Club chapters to invite women to join! More information about Lions Club International is available at www.lionsclubs.org.

Dane G. Hansen was widely known in the county and abroad for his philanthropy and entrepreneurial spirit. As such, one of his accomplished tasks was establishing the Dane G. Hansen Foundation Boy Scout Reservation. This camp is widely used by boy scout troops across the state of Kansas. It hosts excellent camping facilities, a COPE course, archery and riflery ranges, and a large dining hall. Girl scouts also use the facilities in the summertime. During the off-season, the pool is sponsored by the Lions Club and is open to the public for swimming. The dining hall and camping facilities are also available to rent, and are a fabulous lake-side location for family gatherings and reunions.
