The governing body of the City of Kirwin met Thursday January 3, 2008 for the adjourned city council meeting.

 

Present: Mayor Robert Hoffman

 

Council members: present: Todd Lumpkin, Rhonda Gibson, Brenda Loyd, Linda Roth, June Eakin

 

City employee present: City Clerk Wanda Jameson

 

Visitors present: Betty Still, Helen Canon, Jeff Hofaker, Max Lowry, Robert Eakin, Curtis Bretton

 

Mayor Hoffman called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

 

Lumpkin moved, Loyd seconded to approve the minutes of the December 2007 regular meeting. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Bills were presented for payment.

Loyd moved, Roth seconded to pay bills. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Jeff Hofaker addressed council on Phillips County Economic Development Directors overview. Invitations were extended to the council to attend a special meeting on January 14, 2008.

 

Max Lowry went over the new EMC Insurance policy which will be in affect from Jan. 7, 2008-April 1, 2008.

Loyd moved, Eakin seconded to increase the water tower insured value to 150,000 replacement cost. Motion carried 5-0.

Loyd moved, Lumpkin seconded to change all insurance on buildings to replacement cost. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Mayor Hoffman gave an update on the Phillips County Solid Waste meeting.

 

Roth moved, Lumpkin seconded to change phone carrier to Nex-Tech on a 36 month contract dropping to 2 phone lines. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Directive to City clerk:

 

Eakin moved, Lumpkin seconded to send a letter of violation of Ordinance 129 to the property owner of Blk. 5, Range 3, Lots 6-10.

Motion carried 5-0.

 

EMT letter sent to council was discussed. No action taken.

 

Lumpkin moved, Roth seconded to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Meeting adjourned 9:18 p.m.
